About the Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a short-term, focused, and effective treatment that concentrates on problems occurring in the present. It can be used to treat a variety of mental disorders, particularly anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, eating disorders, OCD, phobias, and addictions.
CBT is based on the idea that people's interpretation of a certain situation affects their response more than the situation itself.
The treatment often includes assignments for the patient and sometimes protocols that dictate the structure of the therapy sessions. In other words, the work in the sessions will be on specific topics, according to a certain plan predetermined in advance.
In many cases, sexual dysfunction is related to other aspects of life and to specific issues, and not necessarily to physical problems. For example: ideas and opinions and attitudes about sex, sex and emotions, social and interpersonal communication, self-image and sexual/intimacy skills.
These issues may affect the ways in which individuals or couples connect, cause marital problems and can lead to sexual dysfunction, such as decreased sexual drive, premature ejaculation, deled ejaculation, lack of orgasm and pain during intercourse.
Whether you are married, living together, single, gay or straight –
all of these issues can be addressed and resolved in therapy.
